Shenghua Heavy Crane Group 160T 40M Beam Launcher Contributes on Pakistan PKM Project and Package 2 of 56.15km the Whole Line Finish Connection.

On 18th Novermber, at 17:30 Pakistan time, the last piece 30m I-Girder slowly dropped down with the command of field staff at the PKM project package 2 of 478+281 bridge erection work site. It’s accurately installed onto the 0# abutment cushion with the help of Shenghua Heavy Crane Group 160T 40M beam launcher. Till now, China State Construction Engineering Corporation-Pakistan PKM Project Package 2 is fully completed, which is the PKM project maximum skew angle bridge erection task, proving 160T 40M beam launcher produced by Shenghua Heavy Crane Group work efficiency and high standard accurancy. It marks that the project of 18 bridges with total 494 pieces of precast girders is successfully finished and the whole line of total length 56.15km is connected.

PKM project Package 2 of 478+281 birdge is a 7x30m bridge crossing the local main irrigation canal. It is cross construction with local water gate. Bridge construction is directly limited to the water gate construction progress, leading to great difficulty in construction organization. And skew angle reaches 67°, which is far higher than the erection capability of conventional birdge construction equpment of less than 45°. Construction safety of big skew angle bridge is a new challenge both for project department and Shenghua Heavy Crane Group-the bridge construction equipment supplier.

Facing all the difficulites of water gate and bridge erection cross construction, short dry period of cannal and large amount work in the water etc., project department combined the water gate construction progress with the spirit of scientific organization and planning ahead. By dividing areas and stages, pile foundation, pier columns and cap beam etc. substructure are inserted for construction seperately. To ensure construction nodes, project department increased input, adopting steel trestle+steel platform to conduct substructure construction in the water to seize the dry season. Pile foundation in the water, pier columns were all finished in April 2018, which lay a solid foundation for the subsequent construction.

Aiming at the key link of girder erection, the project department simulates girder working conditions and develops the transformation scheme of beam launcher, and combines with the results of force checking so as to strengthen beam launcher partly. By transformation of 160T 40M beam launcher through many tests, the erection conditions of large angle skew bridge erection is satisfied.

In the final link of bridge erection, the project department arranged special personnel to monitor and control the whole process of precast beam erection and checked every step of girder erection process by putting safety production in the first place, and finally completed the task of precast beam erection successfully.
